The Story of Wisdom of Aya: Rooted in Wisdom, Guided by Love

Welcome to Wisdom of Aya.

Your journey home begins here.

My Story

I didn't find this work. It found me.

Like many of us, I spent years searching for answers, for peace, for a version of myself that felt whole. What I discovered along the way changed everything: the healing I was looking for was never outside of me. It was waiting, quietly, within.

My path here was not linear. It was forged through displacement, resilience, and a relentless search for meaning.

I was born in Colombia and immigrated to the United States as a child when my family fled the violence of the drug war. We lived undocumented for fifteen years. I carried the dream of becoming a physician, but without documentation, medical school was not an option. I went where doors were open and built a life in corporate America.

From the outside, it looked successful. On the inside, I knew something essential was missing.

I made the decision to walk away from stability and join the Peace Corps. It was there, living and working in Peru, that I encountered plant medicine traditions and sat with shamans who understood healing as relational, spiritual, and communal. Something in me recognized that language immediately. Holistic healing was not a new idea I was adopting. It felt ancestral. It felt remembered.

That remembering became the foundation of what is now Wisdom of Aya, a practice honoring my daughter, Aya Sofia, whose name carries the meaning great spirit of wisdom. She has been my greatest teacher. Not through words, but through the way she moves through the world with such natural, unguarded knowing. Watching her reminded me that this kind of wisdom isn't earned or learned. It's something we're all born with. Something we simply need help remembering.

My work stands at the intersection of lived experience, social justice, and community care. I believe healing is not a luxury. It is a human need. It should be accessible, culturally grounded, and rooted in dignity.

I show up as someone who has navigated systems, crossed borders, and rebuilt identity more than once. My role is not to fix or rescue. It is to create environments where people feel safe enough to reconnect with their own wisdom.

Wisdom of Aya grew from my desire to create that kind of space for others, a place to slow down, breathe, and come back to yourself. Whether you're navigating addiction, grief, burnout, spiritual disconnection, or simply a feeling that something is missing, you belong here.

Through Reiki, sound healing, and end-of-life work, I hold space for wherever you are on your journey. There's no fixing here, no performing. Just you, exactly as you are, finding your way back to yourself.

This work is both professional and personal. It is built from experience, integrity, and devotion to collective wellbeing. And it is here for you, exactly as you are.

I'm so glad you're here.
